The Sustainable Development Goals are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. To achieve this feat of global development, we must recognise how progress in one area supports progress in another.

Goal 6 is one of the most interconnected goals – improved access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) aids economic development, poverty reduction, education, health and more.

Ahead of July's meeting of the UN High Level Political Forum 2019, we have joined with partners to create policy briefs highlighting the vital links between SDG 6 and five other goals under review this year.

•    Goal 4: Quality education

•    Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth

•    Goal 10: Reduced inequalities

•    Goal 13: Climate action

•    Goal 17: Strengthening implementation and partnership for sustainable development

These policy briefs examine progress towards these goals, challenges that countries still face, and the key levers needed to reach our targets and empower communities worldwide.
