Ethiopia country strategy 2016-2021

The Government of Ethiopia has an ambitious target: to achieve universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) by 2020.

WaterAid is the only international NGO working on WASH services in the country. The 2016-2021 strategy aims to support the Government in its 2020 target and is focused on four key outputs:

• Climate resilience knowledge gaps are identified and filled to influence WASH sector actors and make sure the country is as prepared as possible for future adverse weather patterns.
• Marginalised and vulnerable groups are included in WASH programming.
• Effective WASH systems at local government level are used to influence and strengthen the wider sector.
• WASH systems are integrated with other sector.
