Explore the lessons learned from our SusWASH programme in this independent evaluation.

Promoting sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene services at scale (SusWASH) was a five-year (2017–22), multi-country programme, funded by H&M Foundation. Through SusWASH we sought to systematically address the key barriers to WASH sustainability and inclusion in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Pakistan and Uganda.

The programme was evaluated between November 2021 and January 2022 by ItadLtd, generating valuable lessons and recommendations for our future systems strengthening work under our new Global Strategy 2022–2032, and for the wider WASH sector. This executive summary of the full global independent evaluation highlights:

  • SusWASH’s contribution to change
  • Key country-level achievements
  • Challenges in delivering SusWASH
  • Recommendations for future systems strengthening work

By sharing our findings and lessons learned we hope to improve our work and that of the broader sector, and uphold our principles of accountability and transparency.
