The world is urbanising quickly. Over the next two decades, the urban population of South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa is expected to double.

This urbanisation in developing countries presents challenges for increasing access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), with most towns and cities lacking the capacity to provide adequate services for their citizens.

Our urban framework defines our position, approach and programme standards in relation to urban WASH. It points to accompanying guidelines, toolkits and resources to provide more detail on how to apply our framework in practice.
